The Great Pillow Debate

Often, when pillows are washed and dried, they come out like lumpy mashed potatoes. Mis-shapen and unusable. When you buy a pillow for $3-$5, it is sometimes just as inexpensive to replace it rather than try to wash, dry, fluff, shape it, dry it, shape it…etc. However, the down pillows and the more expensive pillows lend themselves to be washed much better. Some have covers, just slip them off ( or unzip them ) and wash the covers that you lay on for a fresher pillow. When washing a down pillow be sure to leave yourself plenty of drying time so you don’t have a damp place to put your head.

You add vinegar to do what!?!

Distilled white vinegar ( apple cider vinegar is for cooking with, guys…) has hundreds of uses. In fact they have written books about all of the uses. But for us, we keep it in the laundromat for a couple of specific reasons. If you need to get the smell of cigarette smoke out of your clothes, 1 cup of vinegar with your wash can help cut the smell. It also helps cut pet odors, if you have had a house fire, or if you have been near a camp fire. It will help cut the smell of heavy perfumes and/or colognes as well. It is an inexpensive means to cut smells if that is your laundry problem rather than stains.
